camera-securityTwo Factor Return

Relevo's Two Factor Return system combines ease of use for guests with enhanced security and accountability for businesses. This approach ensures that returned items are correctly processed while minimizing fraud or errors, making it ideal for locations seeking stricter return controls without increasing employee workload during peak hours.

Assigning Items

The process of giving out reusable Relevos remains unchanged and can follow any of Relevo's existing systems:

Returning Items

Two Factor Return introduces an additional verification step to ensure accuracy:

  1. Guest Returns:

    1. Relevo Users scan a Return Code Poster at the location and leave their items.

    2. Items are marked as "Pending" in the system, indicating they have been returned but not yet validated.

  2. Second Scan by Customer:

    1. Within a set time period (e.g., same evening or within 24 hours), employees must scan the returned items using the Relevo Partner Platform.

    2. This second scan validates the return, clears the "Pending" status, and removes the item from the Relevo User's "Active Borrows" list in their app.

  3. Unverified Returns:

    1. If the second scan is not completed within the customer's set time period (typically up to 5 days), the system assumes the Relevo User did not return the item properly, and a replacement fee is charged to the guest.

Strict mode

By default, Two Factor Return operates in Strict Mode, which blocks items in a "Pending" state from being borrowed again until they are validated through a second scan. This prevents fraud or misuse of Return Code Posters.

  • Benefits of Strict Mode:

    • Ensures all returns are verified before items re-enter circulation.

    • Eliminates potential fraud or errors in the return process.

  • Strict Mode OFF: For high-turnover locations where items are quickly cleaned and reused, Strict Mode can be disabled. In this mode, borrowing a "Pending" item is possible and automatically clears its status and assigns it to the new Relevo User.

Requirements

To implement Two Factor Return, businesses need:

  • A QR Code Scanning Device (e.g., smartphone, tablet, or dedicated scanner).

  • Access to the Relevo Partner Platform with internet connectivity.

  • A clear process for performing second scans within the set time frame.
